Utterly fluid and elegantly curved, this under-construction project from architects SOM shines as a beautiful example of how in 21st century architecture design is less and less constrained by technical limits.

Buildings can become more and more sculptured objects of art. Whereas modern architecture of the 20th century was dominated by angular design we now clearly live in a time where anything seems possible. With the help of modern technology organic forms and shapes never before thinkable for buildings are now a feasible reality.

Winning competition entry for Wujiang, China.

Like sculpting a high-performance automobile, digital aerodynamic modeling was critical to shaping this 358m supertall tower. Acting as the “lung” of the building, the tower’s atrium is defined by a 30-story tall operable window, which invites cool air flow during summer months and floods the interior spaces with natural light.

West Kowloon Terminus will connect Hong Kong to China's high speed rail network.

Running at a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour, the high-speed rail will shorten the journey time between Hong Kong and Guangzhou significantly from about 100 minutes to 48 minutes. It will only take 14 and 23 minutes respectively from Hong Kong to Futian and Longhau in Shenzhen.

A building reminding more of a sculpture than the office tower and shopping mall it will be:  the GSI Tower in Cancun, Mexico.

Another magnificent creation from Adrien Smith and Gordon Gill, Greenland Center satisfies with its slender height, tapered corners and round shapes.

Under construction in Wuhan, China, and on track to be on of the 4 tallest tower in the world upon completion.

Eco-friendlieness is in high-regard for studio AS+GG, and so will also this project be built with resource-conserving technologies.
Those include: capturing energy from exhaust vents, greywater recovery for cooling system, low energy light system with daylight responsive control.

Construction of SOMA's Expo 2012 Pavilion has been completed in time for the show's opening on May 12th. This sweet piece is really a beauty and features a groundbreaking new kinetic facade technology that allows it's side lamellas to open and close like the gills of a fish.

Final designs of the new contender for the world's tallest structure have been revealed recently. Already in planning for several years, Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill have unveiled their vision of a tower that for the first time in human history will break through the one kilometer mark. The final height of the building is not set in stone yet, it will, however, be a minimum of 1000 meters (3280 feet), and with that at least a considerable 173 meters (568 feet) taller than Burj Khalifa, the current world's tallest.
